Mother's Height: 5'4''

How was your pregnancy? Normal, no complications

How did you feel about your upcoming birth? Happy and excited. Worried that this baby would be stillborn like the first one.

Description of your birth experience: Was in labor for 36 hours. Baby was laying on sciatic nerve. Had sharp shooting pain down right leg. Because he was a big baby had to push kneeling. Had a big head, but shoulders were big and had mild shoulder dystocia. Pushed for 2 hours.. Doctor and midwife were both present and gave perineal massage. No tear at all.

How did you feel after the birth (first month)? Recovery was great. Very happy, very healthy. No problems at all. Very easy recovery.

How did you feel six months after the birth? One year? Now?  Felt great. Went on to have 3 more children. 2 c-sections due to placenta previa (one in 1980, one in 1982). Had one vertical incision and one horizontal incision from c-sections. After 2 c-sections, went on to have a natural complication-free VBAC (1984).

What did you learn from this birth? That I could do more than I thought I could and I am stronger than I thought.

Any words of wisdom to impart? Don't be afraid to have a big baby. It is a good thing!!! As long as you are eating well, let that baby grow.
