21.75 inches
Baby #2: 10 lbs.
22.5 inches
Home births
Mother's Height: 5'4"
How were your pregnancies? Both were fabulous. Biggest problem was varicose veins, no biggie
How did you feel about your upcoming birth? Stoked both times
Description of your first birth experience:
No c-sections...both homebirthed vaginally, thank goodness (much love to my sisters who have had c-sections, I understand that is NO EASY RECOVERY and I thank my lucky stars)
How did you feel after the birth (first month)? Overdid it in about week three both times
How did you feel six months after the birth? One year? Now? Great
What did you learn from this birth?
1st: I really know how to listen to my body; 2nd: I am proud that through shoulder dystocia and intense pain during the last twelve minutes (from the time the water broke until he was born!!) that I acted as a conscientious observer and trusted, without doubt, that my body would not fail me.
Any words of wisdom to impart?
Under normal circumstances, your body will not grow a baby that is too big for your pelvis unless you have gestational diabetes, which occurs in only 3% of women. No matter how small your frame (I was 5'4", 125 before my first pregnancy, and I have birthed two 10 lb. baby boys--dare I say--EASILY, with NO tearing), your body and its infinite wisdom will grow your child and naturally begin the labor process when at the exact perfect time!
