My OB shared office space with a midwife and is very open towards use of midwives and doulas... not something you see everyday, I guess...

That is great. I would think that the support would be welcome. I talked to someone a few weeks ago whose OB told her that she could go as natural as she wants for her birth and that she wouldn't be offended. It totally blew my mind. Apparently it is offensive to some that some women might like to try giving birth with less obstetric management.
