BlogTalkRadio: Informed Consent and Informed Refusal
Monday, October 5, 2009 at 12:49PM When Karen Angstadt of Intentional Birth asked if I would like to be a guest on her radio show, I asked “Are you sure? I tend to babble.” She said yes and we set a date for our chat on Expectations Radio.
I made notes and started to get very nervous about 45 minutes before the interview. After ten minutes into the show, I felt better. Not surprisingly, the notes went out the window and I feel like we touched on a lot of material but didn’t really dig deeply into it. After the hour show was over, we kept chatting for another hour which is also available on the podcast. If you make it through all two hours YOU ARE HARDCORE.
The show is available to download or listen to on your computer on BlogTalkRadio. I know there are loads of gaps in our discussion of informed consent and informed refusal because of time constraints and my general allovertheplaceness. Please point out any and all things that you think should also be covered when it comes to informed consent and refusal.
Thank you for the lovely advice on Facebook, particularly “Don’t drop an F-bomb” and “Look sharp because radio listeners can tell what you look like.”

I heard most of it! You did GREAT. Srsly. Had to stop due to Lilynaptime, but I was right there with ya for much of it! Congrats!
And you DID look sharp! I could totally tell.
Thank you Thank you!!! My ICAN group's topic this month is Informed Consent/Refusal, and I've been looking for material! PERFECT!
It was fantastic! You were great, BTW. I would have been a nervous wreck!
Missed it, darn it! I am positive you did a great job. BTW, we all can tell you blog in a business suit and Manolo Blahnik's. Elitist.
I just started listening to it, and then one of my office mates showed up, so I turned it off. Boo. I will listen to more later. I am aiming for the two hours.
How did I not know there was a radio show like this run out of my backyard? I need to listen to more of the episodes, and then contact her when I feel like I am a ture "fan" of the show. Maybe she will let me come on and talk about my study!
I am sure Karen would love to have you on. She IS right around the corner!
I need to go back and listen to see if there's anything i need to clarify or provide a source for. Two hours of my own voice is a daunting task.
:)
I was hard core! I posted about it.
