If I personally have any failings (perish the thought!) it’s that I don’t have a nursing or science research background, which means that I hear about lots of new studies/findings but rely on smarter folks to tell me what the heck they mean.

The Joint Commission (TJC, formerly JCAHO) recently released new Core Measures for Perinatal Care that are very encouraging to those of us pushing for reform in the handling of labor and birth (and breastfeeding).

And luckily for you all, the always-excellent Chris of the Man-Nurse Diaries gives us some detail on what they recommend, and opens up the interesting question as to whether OB/Gyns pay as much attention to these core measures as other branches of medicine. Go and read.
